Toyin Inniss Agaja

Toyin is Trinidadian Nigerian, growing up all she had was the desire to help people. In her mid-twenties she obtained a Medical degree from North East Nigeria during the height of the Boko Haram insurgency. Being exposed to causalities and a shortage of hands led her to working in trauma centres in three hospitals. She also meddled in local, National and Regional politics and held various leadership roles in school. Clinical practice plus the ever advancing nature of a career in medicine highlighted to her the privilege of having such a stimulating profession. She steered into the NGO sector, where she currently leads the Resource Mobilization and Mental Health department at the International Centre for Advocacy on Rights to Health (ICARH). She has supported in writing some grants that have been awarded and successfully started the mental health and the Queer Arts Initiative for sexual minorities.

Journeying through life has sparked her curiosity and motivated her to dive into various fields like human rights, gender & sexual diversity and photography. She is a profound lover of artistic expressions of different sorts. Her thought process from the most basic things like eating to profound things like policy change flows through these channels: Find the problem, attempt to solve/balance it and document the process.
