After a number of years living and working abroad, Max is excited to be back in his home state of Maine working to elect Sara Gideon to the U.S. Senate. He was born and raised in Portland, Maine and holds an Honors Degree in Global Studies from St. Lawrence University in upstate New York focusing on political economics and conflict. During his studies, he has spent time working and interning at a few local and international nonprofits like The Hour Exchange Portland in Portland, ME and The Synergos Institute in New York City.
Max has also been a Teaching Fellow for The Aga Khan Academies (part of the larger Aga Khan Development Network) in Mombasa, Kenya where he mainly focused on building and maintaining their Community and Service Program and taught Theory of Knowledge in the IB Diploma Program. Throughout his academic and professional career, Max has always been interested in community-based development, multi-stakeholder partnerships, and the politics of inclusion. He is particularly interested in the relationship between governments and the private sector in addressing public goods failures, especially in education, environment, and infrastructure in developing communities. In his free time, Max tries to stay active, dabbles in the culinary arts, and enjoys an impromptu adventure as much as the next person!
