Emily is from Canberra, Australia, and has been working as a conservation ecologist for the last four years. Emily started her career in conservation by completing an Environmental Science degree with an Honours Project in Freshwater Ecology. After finishing her studies, Emily volunteered on a wide range of conservation research projects around Australia.
Since 2014, Emily has been working for the not-for-profit Mulligans Flat Woodlands Sanctuary which carries out conservation research, species reintroductions and community education. Her roles have changed over time but have included running the outreach program, working as a sanctuary ecologist, volunteer coordinator and supporting the CEO as the business moves towards a social enterprise model. Emily believes in the restorative power of nature - to improve mental and physical wellbeing, to build connection between people, and to inspire, empower and instil the confidence that comes with getting outdoors and challenging yourself.
Emily is excited to learn at Amani Institute how sustainable business and social enterprise can be used to tackle some of the world's biggest environmental, sustainability, and conservation challenges.
