Luana Bunese Carvalho

[:pt]

Luana Carvalho was born in Curitiba, Brazil, where she graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná and currently lives in São Paulo. Throughout her life she has had the opportunity to live in the USA, Chile and France - and loved all of the experiences. "With wheels on her feet", as her family likes to say, she always keeps herself in motion. She has done various types of volunteer work since she was a teenager, such as building houses for families in precarious conditions, visiting hospitals and teaching underprivileged kids. Nowadays, she volunteers as an English teacher at Cidadão Pro Mundo, an educational NGO.

Professionally, she currentlyn works with social investment at Santander Bank. One of her current professional goals is to spread knowledge of tax incentive laws to Brazilians, which still don't really know how to use it, and consequently popularize Amigo de Valor, the program she coordinates at Santander Bank. This project uses tax incentives to take care of and protect children and teenagers that have had their rights violated. Her life experiences have instilled in her a desire to   alleviate the severe social inequality in Brazil, and she believes people are key in that transformation.

She is an Amani Institute Fellow because she wants to develop personally and professionally and contribute to positive societal transformation.
