Janica (or Jaja in short) has a degree in Arts from the University of East in the Philippines. She has worked in different art & event-related industries for three years (concert production, advertising, wedding photography, and films). Through her involvement in volunteering for a youth-led non-governmental organization, she discovered a passion for helping vulnerable communities. She made her way to the development sector and got to work in an international nonprofit organization that focuses on intercultural learning and global citizenship education.
After working for four years in the nonprofit sector, she decided to take a short course on social innovation in Uganda. Afterward, she decided to work in social startups in the Philippines. Currently, she's handling People Operations at Eskwelabs, a social enterprise that upskills people in data science so they can thrive in the future of work. Through the SIM Program, she is looking forward to helping the startup scale and to build her own social enterprise soon.
